TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
NATUROPATHIC HAVEN
Traditional Chinese Medicine claims that it is the person that need to be treated, not the disease. With the approach of the healing power of nature, avoidance of ailment suppression, treatment of the whole person, and individual, unique response, Chinese medicine has a lot in common with naturopathy. Both practices believe in the disruption of body’s homeostatic mechanisms by multifactorial environment that imbalance physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Nomenclature in Chinese Medicine may deviate from conventional medical terminology and sound abstract, however that’s where the whole wisdom and magic lies in its powerful efficacy!

Traditional Chinese Medicine origins reach pre 1000BCE and it focuses on imbalances in the body represented by 4 sets of features and symbolised with Taiji. Taiji depicts Yin and Yang concept (the shady, cold, wet part of the hill vs the sunny, warm, energetic, and dry side) which refers to overall quality of the disease. And the truth is that no one is fully either of them because there is always that part of yang within yin and yin within yang.

Subsequent pair of deficiency and excess express the strength of disease, location is determined by interior or exterior, and the nature of an illness can be either cold or hot.

MORE ABOUT TRADITIONAL CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
These basics diagnostic tools, among others, are used in facial, tongue, nail, and pulse examination and may manifest through colour, like fiery red face or tongue (excess heat-Yang), often indicating an inflammation, or pale complexion with thin white coating on tongue showing deficiency of Yang and relative excess of Yin.
Along with acupuncture, acupressure, herbs, or body’s discharges and behavioural observation Chinese medicine contributes to restoring one’s optimal health from the root of the disease and accordingly to specific individual needs. It is also amazing additional diagnostic tool for various practitioners looking for reassurance in their own treatment protocols, including myself! I absolutely love TCM and always reach for its wisdom.
